3 am

I've hit that mark in the night where I'm not exactly tired anymore, but I'm definitely not awake. Every law student who has lived through finals will know exactly what I mean. I'm working on corporations now, and teaching myself all that my professor didn't teach...which is everything. There is something to account for when you attend a top tier school. Those law schools have real professors who have real credentials. On the other hand, I'm learning corporations from a man who graduated law school 5 or 6 years ago. from l. This is his first time teaching corporations... Need I say more?

I'm a bitter bug right now. What's new, right? My grandmother's 80th birthday is this weekend. We're having a big shabang on saturday. That lady is the light of my life, but the thought of being with all of my family all weekend (everyone's flying in) is making me nauseous. Nothing good has been coming out of family gathering as of late. And I can only handle one one visit from my brother every few months. Ugh and the thought of my entire family flaunting over him makes me cringe. Here's how it'll go:
  • My mom or aunt or grandma will comment on how he's lost weight, all concerned, when he hasn't. Then they'll look over at me at some point with a disapproving look
  • My dad will brag about my brother's fabulous firm job, and when people ask what I'll be doing, he'll change the subject in embarrassment (just like how he changes the subject when people ask him what school I attend - really, my parents still aren't over it)
  • My brother will whip out his $1000 camera, I repeat $1000 camera, that my grandpa gave him for being a male instead of a female. (Everytime I see that camera, I want to smash in comparison to his place...such BS.)
  • Everyone will talk about my brother's new girlfriend, and mention his old witchy one. Tease him about sewing his wild oats, which is totally okay for a guy, but not a girl. Which I'll then proceed to roll my eyes
And during all this, I have to remember the bigger picture - it's my grandmommy's birthday. She's 80 and fabulous. Still loves to shop, even with her walker. She had a dress made just for the occasion. My aunts bought it for her as a birthday gift. She told me how she didn't really want them to pay (it was $700...not just your normal dress). And then she said how she changed her mind because she could wear it to my brother's wedding... Seconds later, after my silence, she added, "Oh yeah, and your's too, of course."

Uh huh.
