What happened?

I just realized my Evite account looks a bit different these days. I used to get Evites for parties, club events, mid-week happy hours. Now my box is full of baby showers, baby birthdays, and bridal events. What the heck happened?

It's not that I expected to be clubbing forever. I just didn't expect my late-twenties to be so dang different from my early-twenties. Late-twenties feels more like it should be thirties!

It's a little sad and a bit strange to say good-bye to youth. Don't get me wrong - I love watching my friends' families grow and it's pretty amazing to be a part of such great changes. Sure, I want lots of kids, but I'm definitely in no rush to get to parenthood. It's just that I blinked, and all of a sudden, I became an adult.

Hello. I'm wondering if you can please, please help me. I am supposed to take the CA bar exam on Tuesday, and I realized today (Friday, after 5pm of course) that I never received an admission ticket. I know I'm an idiot for not realizing sooner!

Google brought up your post from February where you said you were going to the Convention Center on Monday for them to 'write' you one.

I'm wondering if you could please tell me if that worked and where you were supposed to go, and if it seemed like a common thing for people who never got it or lost it, or if there were complications.

Since I can't call anyone until they open again on Monday, and I live 5 hours away from Los Angeles, I'm just not sure what to do!!

Thank you so, so much.

My response to Lisa:

Yes, don't panic! I know exactly how you feel. I am assuming you're going to your hotel/test center on Monday. Where are you taking the Bar exam? I took it in Oakland when I didn't get my ticket, but I'm pretty sure it'll be the same everywhere.

Go early on Monday, after lunch but before 2pm to be safe. I believe in front of the test site, there will be tables set up by the Cal Bar for people like you who never received their ticket. The Cal Bar people will literally write you one on the spot. That will be the only ticket you will need. You DON'T need to drive to the State Bar office in LA. Just go to your site.

I would call on Monday morning to ask exactly what time the Bar people will be tabling on Monday. They usually do it for two hours in the afternoon.

Trust me, you'll be okay. I know it totally feels like just another thing to worry about., but it happens to a lot of people. They get it all the time, and as long as you know for sure you signed up, they'll have your name on a master list, and will write a ticket for you on the spot on the Monday before the exam.
