Magic Trick

There's alot to say about my own life, but I can't help but want to talk about everything that's going on in the world right now. There's just so much. It's all very overwhelming that it's no wonder Americans tend to know little about politics and current events. We simply don't want to spend the time to learn the details.

What I find interesting is how less than two weeks ago, the news and almost every media outlet was focusing on the potential terror attacks from London to the US. It was huge, and it just sent another message that hey, President Bush has been through the most shit than any other president in my lifetime. But this story has somehow been shoved under the rug for an even "jucier" story, the Jon Benet Ramsey case. After watching CNN news, Primetime, MSNBC, and FOX news, it finally hit me - what the heck happened to the terror bombing story?

The timing couldn't have been any better for President Bush. Focus is being diverted from the potential criticism of the President to a new story that Americans seem more familiar with. Really though, can we be blamed? Who wants to focus on terror, unfamilar words that even that President finds hard to pronounce, and a culture that most Americans will never understand? We would rather spend out time on a provocative story where this time, maybe the bad guy has been caught.

Media is such a magic trick. Every second, something new, which means there will be a something old. One, right after another, the audience is cleverly deceived and never has time to see how the trick actually worked.
